Co-creation site for insurance - visit & make a difference

eVentures, a small on-line team inside IAG has launched a co-creation community, asking consumers to help them design the best online general insurance experience and products they can.

sig myinsuranceideas is a six month initiative to solicit undiluted input from the general public and to use this input to help design the online experience, the products and the services preferred from this car and home insurer.  The site includes an idea exchange where people interested in insurance issues can enter ideas, vote on others' ideas or refine them by adding comments. Quick Poll, interactive surveys and an anonymous suggestion box provide a variety of ways people can have their say. The community editors promise regular feedback, based on the feedback and direction they receive. A chance for us all to be car insurance design contributors. US cases of this "co-creation with consumers" approach to new product development are often quoted; P&G, Dell, Starbucks and Wikipedia are high profile examples. Threadless the T-shirt manufacturer depends on it for their business model. There are co-created innovation success stories closer to home in Asia - but are there many in Australia?
  • Missha is the leading cosmetic company in South Korea
  • Loncin is the major motor cycle manufacturer in Vietnam
  • Naver the highest traffic search engine in South Korea (thanks to Dr Jacqus Bughin from McKinsey, 2008 for these examples)
It is good to see an Australian financial services organisation of IAG's size being nimble and open.   Visit them and have your say. Cheers,
